ASIDE RECORDERDescriptionOK. You can device exchange a source with the master pretty quickly, but when you are laying off a bazillion things you will go NUTS keeping track of where the original master is now. I hate that! So, why not do some aside recordings?! This way you don't have to do any swapping of machines and you can still have the Axial lay off this one edit to a different recorder. Intrigued? InstructionsHere's all you have to do to use an ASIDE RECORDER:
To reset the workspace so that the edit you have made will be recorded to the master that is currently assigned as the master (sounds weird, but YOU try to explain this...), Press CONTROL + R MARK. This will make things right again. At least in this particular instance anyway. . .now your personal life, well, I am NOT going to go there.
CHANGING RECORDERS IN THE EDLDescriptionLet's pretend that you just finished loading in a list into your Axial session. Whoops, you say you had the wrong machine set up as the recorder and now all your edits in the EDL will be recorder to the wrong reel? Bummer, dude. Luck for you I have an easy way of changing the recorder for all those edits quickly and painfully, er, uh, make that pain-LESS-ly. Want to know how? InstructionsHere's all you have to do to CHANGE RECORDERS IN THE EDL:
That's it. The record reel for all the edits you had highlighted will now be changed to be the same as what is currently assigned as the master recorder in the workspace. If you are in doubt as to what that will be, you can always press ASSIGN MGR and look in there for the currently assigned recorder. This way, you will no longer have to delete all the edits and load the EDL back in again. What a pain! And, this is easier than the CHANGE + MASTER way. Once again, I have saved
you hundreds of keystrokes a week thereby staving off the inevitable Carpal-Tunel
Syndrome. You're welcome.
