5100 combining with 8100 switcher

I have a few more questions. Can you combine the 5100 to work through the 8100 switcher? If not does it require an edit controller to operate the 5100? I have hooked it up as independent units with the 8100 AUX 1-2 feeding the 5100. I get only feed back no matter what I send out of the AUX sends.

Can the 5100 board be installed into the 8100 main frame?
