Our M-Series does not reliably load clips when instructed to do so by Kalypso E-MEMs.

Our news studio has 2 x M-Series each with two outputs. Usually only one or two clips are successfully loaded when an E-Mem attempts to load clips in all four ourputs, the other outputs go to black or are still playing the previously loaded clip. The actual output from the M-Series contradicts the Kalypso External Device Control and Timeline Events menus that report the correct clips are loaded and playing.

This problem occurs every time an E-MEM attempts to recall M-Series clips located outside the M-Series Bin currently in use. We have more success when E-MEMs recall clips located in the current Bin, although this is still far from reliable. Often the correct clip will momentarily load in the chosen output but a second later, that output will revert to playing the previously loaded clip.

Our Kalypsos were recently updated to 12.0.1 and at the same time our M-Series boxes were changed from playing clips in DVCPRO 25 to DVCPRO 50. Before these changes happened, things were a lot more harmonious between the two devices ? not perfect, but reliable enough to go to air with confidence.

Our Kalypsos communicate with the M-Series via a Serial connection. There?s talk of changing the protocol to 1gb Ethernet which may be more reliable?? Would love to hear from anyone who has experienced (and hopefully resolved) similar issues?
