Hi. I have a Ross RVS-216A switcher, which I was told is identical to the GVG 100/110 switchers. I'm trying to interface it with a Sony PVE 500 editor. I'm not sure if I can use the editor's serial RS-422 interface or the BNC GPI. The Ross switcher has a 9-pin input for both an editor and a GPI. Currently the Sony's serial switcher output and the Ross' editor input are connected to each other.

The Sony editor also has a serial EDL out, but I'm not using an EDL; I just edit one at a time.

The manuals for both the editor and switcher are confusing to this non-engineer! I've tried setting up the Ross and the Sony editor to talk to each other (the editor's setup #20 is set to G100; the Ross's frame board jumpers are set to enable editor inputs, etc.), but I don't know if I'm using the wrong interfaces or if they can't communicate with each other in the first place.

If the Ross is indeed not similar to a GVG 100, can the editor talk to a Ross switcher?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
