Hello Editsuite.com friends,

Due to tons of abuse, we now require that you request user access by sending us your Login, Name, Email Address, Phone Number, and Profession by submitting that info HERE.  I'll review your request and try to get back to you within the week.  You can't imagine how many folk want to trash forums with bogas advertising.

Also, please help us gain enough Facebook "Likes" to have a custom Facebook URL!

I like it better than the old one. Can we still get email notifications of new posts?

Hi Ken, Yeah, I miss the feature whereby you can get an email when any post if made in each of the fourms. I'll work on that possibility when I get a chance. There was some talk about that on the software's support forums, so there might be a mod that I can install or I can hack away at it myself. As far as Firefox goes, the thing to do is to click on the little icon in the lower right part of the browser window. I know this is the case on the Mac (which I do believe you are on), not positive it is the same for Windows. That is the "subscribe to rss feed" icon. You'll get a bit of text pop up that says "Subscribe to . . .blah, blah, blah" and when you click on that, you'll get a "live bookmark" which should let you keep track of the postings for Editsuite.com. You can use this in the main page of the new forum section, or just in an individual forum and have individual bookmarks for each forum. You choose. Let me know if I need to clarify anything. The RSS stuff should help a bit until I can figure out some subscribe to the posts functionality. Enjoy. . .

Hi John, > First, you'll see the RSS link in each forum which allows you to use a newsreader or browser that supports RSS (Opera, Firefox, the new Safari) and subscribe that way. In Firefox I get the following message when I click on the RSS Feed link: " This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below." Then it looks like it shows the contents of the RSS Feed link file. > Also you can check the "Subscribe to this topic" box at the bottom to, well, subscribe to this topic. I'm assuming this would let me email subscribe to that particular message thread. Is there any way to email subscribe to the whole Forum so that I get notification and text of any new posts and topics in the Forum? Thanks, -= Ken =-

Mike, This is sort of a working demo. We needed some traffic to see how it was working for real and we intend to switch off the old forums at the end of this month. Well, by "switch off" I mean remove the ability to post new messages or reply to old ones. We'll still keep the old forums arount to search for all that great info you have all posted over the years.

Brad, Yeah, I know what you mean. There some modifications that people have done for this message board, I'll see if there is one for the tree structure as an option for display. One thing I liked about this software is that it didn't have an inordinate amount of features that most people didn't need. Unfortunately that also means that it doesn't have some of the things that some people want. I'll check it out.

John, is this a demo or will the board move to this software in a bit?

One thing I miss is the "tree" structure, where you can see that someone is replying to a post in reply to a post etc. This is not always apparent, since often you don't "quote" when you reply. brad

Nice improvement over the older software. Thanks.

First, you'll see the RSS link in each forum which allows you to use a newsreader or browser that supports RSS (Opera, Firefox, the new Safari) and subscribe that way. Also you can check the "Subscribe to this topic" box at the bottom to, well, subscribe to this topic. Have fun.
