Its been almost 3 months since the mysterious closing down at Accom. Any news about their situation. Do we expect them to rise like a Phoenix ? I noticed that Atul says he has been rehired. I took that as a good sign that there may be a comeback. Just Wonderin'.
Well, I suppose most here have heard or found out, but just in case you haven't heard, check out the "new" Accom. . . it's called Abekas!
I just pray that all of the Affinity spare parts will be sent to a local landfill. A friend of mine was at a gathering where he ran into someone who had worked at Accom who told horror stories of the development of that system. From watching the development of it from the sidelines, all the way back to the Immix VideoCube, I still can't quite figure out why they brought the Affinity to market. It was 4 or 5 years late! What happened to the NT port that was planned from the beginning?
Well, I'll be. I wonder if Grass Valley is going to produce the DVEous. It seems to me that it'd be no big deal to put one together and sell it with a switcher if a customer wanted it.
Almost everyone has moved to internal "transform engines" in the switcher. Unless someone develops a modular system where a client can choose the DVE technology they want to put into the switcher, I don't think you'll ever see a new DVE. (Would be an interesting challenge to design a modular, open switcher development platform. I wonder if anyone has considered this before?)

I own a few thousand shares of Accom stock, so I would hope for some sort of recovery. I seriously doubt that it will happen though. It's a funny story how I came to invest in Accom. Thankfully it wasn't a large investment, but had I sold at the right time, it would have been a really nice profit. What I hope for now is a buyout of the assets. I hope that someone sees some value in the Axial and Abekas server products.
