Hello,

I'm working with KayakDD and I have some doubts.

I need to recall from Ram recorder some frames, frame by frame, to do an animation and I'd like to do with e-mem timeline, is it possible? How?

The Ram recorder is volatil memory? I need to store this frames to animation and don't touch it more, is it possible?

How can I attach a macro to a button of program?

Thank you,

Enric

I want to create the strobe effect that i used to make with a DD10. With the DD10 it was possible to use the videostore for creating this effect. I could tell my videostore to use only field 1 or field 2 when in E to E mode, this resulted in a slight strobe effect. With the RAM recorders on my KayakDD I can?t create the same effect in EtoE mode. When I record a clip and set my playout options to only Field 1, I can get the effect that I mean. Conclusion: with recorded clips I can make my effect, but with live video input I can?t. Is there a way to create the effect that I want with my KayakDD? I?d like response ASAP... Thnkx

thanks... I'll give it a go. This, of course, will probably bring more questions... but thanks for the start. Gator
Why use an emem for animation? I would use the Image Convertor to make any series of stills into a movie - that's what it is really good at. Select the sequence of stills and convert to XtenDD/Ram Recorder format specifiying whether you want 25 or 30 frame, HD or SD, and that sort of stuff. (The HD isn't so useful yet ;-)) Please do tell me more of what you want to do and what is hard. I do demos on the Kayaks as well as harass the designers! John
Greetings... this sounds like what we (my company wants to do)... is there any "step-by-step" information you can provide for me to implement this? I am not really sure how to use the Image Convertor to convert to XtenDD/Ram format... nor do I know what the XtenDD/Ram format actually is... your help is appreciated. Just so you know, we are using a KayakDD switcher. Sincerely, Gator

I'm guessing he wants to use the Ramcorder the same way you would use a Fast Forward, for DDR wipes and the like. That's probably the biggest thing that sold us on the Kayak when we were looking for switchers.

I recently purchased a 2ME KayakDD and was told during installation that the ram recorder memory does get ereased when the power is shut off unless you purchase the backup power supply. One way around this is to save the animations on a USB memory stick and load them when you power up. The problem I am running into with this is that I can't get a 1GB USB memory stick to work, only a 256MB or 128MB. This means that I can only hold about 7 seconds on a 128MB and around 15 seconds on a 256MB. The switcher doesn't recognise the 1GB stick. I was successful in creating a macro that loads a ram clip from the ram player list and automattically play it.

One of my gigs just got a KayakDD with a ram recorder in it just this week, I'll let you know what I can figure out when I go in to check it out. I'm fairly sure that the ram recorder isn't volatile, the switcher is in an OB truck and I don't think they would have bought it if they had to redo all their animations every time they powered up and down.
