Good afternoon,

I'm Hoping that someone here could steer me in the direction of a (simple) Switcher that can do 2 different outputs with dissolves. We need it to feed some LED screens on set.....preferably an analog or duel input switcher. Apparently we can get our hands on a "FOR-A VPS-300 8 Input". Is anyone familiar with this switcher? Does it have a clean output? Because my thoughts were if it did, we could feed one output the clean and another dirty and use the 2 keys to do a second output.

I look forward to hearing suggestions on this. We usually use a zodiak to feed our on stage screens...but this production has a little less green to go around.

Thanks in advance.

we always just used one of the M/E busses to feed a monitor, or series of monitors. True, you have to give up some functionality, but the ease of use for switching between graphics, taped pieces, and cameras for the monitors on the set, made up for it.

On Wheel, we use a Folsom unit. I understand that the new Grass "David" switcher is supposed to do something like what you're after, but I haven't seen it yet so I can't verify this.

If you don't have to do any really fancy effects on the screens, Echolab makes some very cheap SDI switchers with 1.5 M/E, P/P can go to one screen and the M/E can go to the other. Just a warning, though, it doesn't have a true look-ahead preview, so you have to be careful when dealing with keys. Using a clean feed and some keyers is pretty clever, though, I must say.
