I was recently on a truck that didn't have a USB connection for the switcher, only a network connection. What do I need to connect to the network and transfer setups to my laptop?

Thanks all

Jeremy

So I think my antivirus/spyware software I was using was causing the problems. (Earthlink's Protection Center). I uninstalled the software for unrelated issues, and now the Menu on PC programs are all running no problems. Thanks for the help everybody.

I tried to use the Kalypso MenuOnPC this past weekend to save a show on my laptop. I plugged the cable in, set my IP address, ran the software, and could see the truck PC. But when I tried to save a show, my computer hung and I had to reboot. Tried it 4 or 5 times, same result. Everything else seemed to be working fine; I could change inputs, rename sources, just not save. Any ideas? I tried using versions 11 and 12.
I downloaded the Kalypso Menu on PC software recently (version 11.1.1). I have yet to use it in a truck. Does it matter if the truck's software version and my PC's software versions are different? Just curious, Mike
Mike... I believe that it is strongly suggested that you run the same version on your PC that the switcher is running. That being said, if you are just pushing files and making other minor adjustments, I can't imagine (although I've never tested it) it would be an issue. Matt
Thanks Matt, that did the trick. It does hang up if I try to go to any of the Save/Load menus (EMEM, FILE OPS, etc.) Is that normal since I'm not connected to a Kalypso?
Jeremy... Glad the earlier version got you up and running! I believe that what you are experiencing as far as FILE OPS isn't normal (the hanging, that is). I am running v12.0.1 on my laptop, and after a short wait, I do get the SAVE/LOAD dialogue, that shows the switcher and still-store frames, the menu pc, an my other drives attached to this computer. I do get the choice to save and load, but haven't tried to do so when not connected to a Kalypso network. Hope that helps... Matt
Same result. Downloaded ver 12.0, unzipped to a folder I created. Ran the Setup file and chose Menu on PC. It started the configuration, but hangs when it gets to the Still Store part.
Just a thought...what about downloading v11.1.1 to see if that will work? No reason that 12.0.1 should hang on your system, but I think that 11.1.1 was before the thumbnail addition to the still store program. Might be a shot in the dark, but at least it might get you up and running. Matt

Yeah, tried all that. It always freezes at the same spot. I'm trying it on my desktop right now to see what happens

Jeremy, sounds like you have more then enough computer. Have you tried uninstalling the software and then rebooting your laptop and then reinstalling the software? Perhaps something got corrupted during the install process. Bob, the frame simulator software is cool.

What version of Windows and how much RAM and what CPU do you have? In the past, I have been able to get the earlier versions to run on my now dead P III, 700 MHz, running WinXP home with 256M of RAM.

So I downloaded the software and all. When I try to launch it, it goes through the load sequence, but it hangs when it gets to the still store part. Am I doing something wrong? I've downloaded both 12.0 and 12.0.1 (?) versions, with the same results.

It's on the installation CD. It's called MENU ON PC, and it's one of the choices that you get if you try to load the Kalypso software on your PC. DON'T pick the "install Kalypso operating software" for your computer...that'll make your PC think that it's a Kalypso & it will start running the Kalypso menu every time that you boot up. Also on the installation CD are a couple of Programs called HD Main & SD Main. They don't show up as part of the auto-load, but you can find them if you explore the CD...just copy them onto your PC. These are frame simulators. Running these on your PC and then running the Kalypso Menu on PC program lets you do all of your programming (like sources & destinations) off-line. To use the simulator, set your Frame IP address in the ENG/SYSTEM menu to 127.0.0.1.

If you connect your laptop to the Kalypso network & do the following: Give your computer an IP address that is compatable with the Kalypso (You can find this by going into the ENG / System menu & look at the IP addresses of the Frame & Still Store - give your computer the 1st 3 octects that you see [such as 192.168.0.] and then put a number in the last octet that won;t conflict with anything else on the network...I use 120 & above). Run the Kalypso
