Kalypso with Avid playout (AirSpeed) for news

We currently use 6 DVC-Pro decks connected to the Kalypso with Omnibus. We can play, rw, ff, stop the decks using the Kalypso machine control.

We are soon going to be using an Avid playout system. The playout will come from Avid AirSpeeds. We will be using the Avid ControlAir application.

We would like to control the AirSpeeds with the Kalypso machine control - like we do now with our DVC Pro decks. Is this possible? Is anyone using a similar setup? I know ControlAir can roll the AirSpeeds (I believe this is an ethernet connection), but I think Omnibus needs a serial connection (I could be wrong here), and I'm not sure if AirSpeed has that, and/or if that can be active while using ControlAir.

I used the Kalypso and also used the avid airspeed/countdown programs. We used a short key controler for video playback that we just assigned our play, ff,rw,pause, etc. this worked just as well as Kalypso control in my opinion. Of course, I was running graphics off a DEKO 3000 short key controller as well, which got confusing at first, but both worked very well.
