Hi, all. I will be doing a local baseball game in a couple months and yesterday we were discussing our FoxBox/scorebug/mini/whatever you want to call it.

My boss is under the impression that all of those boxes are built for specific shows and that it may not be possible to even rent one for a smaller event like this. We have been doing one ourselves for several years but it ties up both of the keyers in our old GVG switcher.

I have done a couple internet searches but entering "FoxBox" doesn't lead me to manufacturers or anything.
Anyone know who to contact or if rental is possible?

As always, thanks for the help.

Has anyone else played around with the demo of Scorebox? It seems pretty decent, but the hockey demo crashes whenever I try to insert a powerplay clock. Might just not like my computer.

Thanks for all the input. We do have several shows throughout the year that it would get used on, I only mentioned baseball because that is up next. It would also see use on football, hockey and basketball for a total of 30 games a year. Heck, if we could get one, I'd even use it on a weekly quiz show we air just to help justify the expense! Mike and Lou, what we have been doing for several years is much like what you suggest. We have a Codi outputting the FoxBox for most shows. On football/hockey/basketball of course, the second keyer gets tied up for the clock, obviously. On baseball for some reason, the person running the FoxBox got us to move the diamond off the Codi. Instead we run it from the DVE. That's where keyer two gets eaten up on baseball. Again, thanks to everyone for all the help. I at least have a couple avenues to explore now. Sean Kelly
Sean, like Lou mentioned a second CG would be easy for baseball. Waaay back when HTS, now Comcast, used a single channel Maxine to do their baseball bug, no radar gun data but few knew the difference except on the road. I pitied those poor bug ops. The key to using a Maxine is having a good op build all the variables. Another bug box builder is a guy out of Detroit, a graphics guy named Tim last name begins with a "G".
If you want to get a hold of "Tim G.", Gullabek... something like that. I can't remember, use to work with him when he was a cg op. Contact Channel 50 (UPN) out of Detroit. I am sure they can get a... HOLD ON... FOUND IT. Tim Golobic Phone: (248)910-7625 - Found it on Chyrons website-Tim move on??? (Public number-think it's ok to post) But like the others said, single chan Maxine or even Deko will work just fine. Sean, if you're doing only one game it's probably not worth what it would cost for someone like Sports Media to adapt the software. The various bugs share common characteristics but don't really work the same. You might be better off going the Maxine route here, unless you need pitch speeds so desperately that your show will sink without them. Then again, most nights we have more issues with radar than the entire rest of the truck.

I know on local preseason football games the station I used to work for just used a second Infinit! for the four games we had.

Another company is their web site doesn't show anything but I do know that they did make the boxes for Fox Sports in the past, Fox has gone in house the last two or so years. CSTV and the Indians new network, STO also use Sports Media boxes. At one point, when they were busy with Fox, Sports Media did not rent short term, not sure if they do now.
