Hello,

I will be on a Zodiak next week...3 ME, 12 ch's of TE, internal SS, 64 input. I have never switched on a Zodiak, but have switched on a Kalypso...Am I understanding correctly that the Zodiak and Kalypso are similar..much like a 4k is/was to a 2200? Are there any "gotchas" that I should look out for? Show will be pretty much cutting cameras, possible lower thirds, maybe triggering a Doremi.

I assume mapping, triggering, etc are pretty similiar if not the same...?

Thank you,

-Curt

like only 4 SS channels
is that including a key channel per still or do you lose an additional channel if you need a vid/key pair
No key channel, you get four outputs total. 1/2 of what a Kalypso gives you.

Mike, That's exactly what I was looking for...thank you. Glad to see it has macros also. Forgot to ask. Last time I was on a Kalypso, I played around w/ the GUI beforehand to get myself more familiar before I got on the truck. That really helped w/ saving time when I was in front of the panel. Glad I will be able to do that w/ the Zodiak also. Thanks again. Curt

The menus on the Zodiac are identical to the Kalypso, so you'll have no problem finding anything there. The Zodiac doesn't have all the bells and whistles, though it does have most of the functionality of a Kalypso. You will notice some little annoyances, like only 4 SS channels, 1 key bus per ME (for all keys/macros) , key mix buttons, but no key cut buttons (I hate that one) and some things you HAVE to do from menus, like GET/PUT or adjusting kf durations (to name a few). So yeah, you'll hit some spots that require a bit of detouring, but all in all you will have no trouble. Mike
