I have been asked if it is possible to create a sequence of TIFFs inside of a wipe to look like an animation. I remember the gentleman who installed the switcher said it is possible but I can't seem to locate it anywhere in the manuals.

Any help would be appreciated.

Todd
Before we got the DDR we used a sequence of stills, we grabbed frames from a VT not TIFFs, for certain transitions. It worked but I like the TIFF idea better. This was on an 8000 1080i going back to early 2003, not sure what version software. Rick, any idea?
If memory serves, v3 gave the "official" nod to animation. I think Sony defined animation as being able to record live video into the switcher then play it back from the frame memory. V3 also (I think) allowed the import and export of TIFF/TGA/BMP files. Before that, there were keyframes on the USER regions (where the frame memory lives). If you were REALLY good and had a LOT of patience, you could manually grab one frame at a time into the frame memory then manually set up keyframe by keyframe and it would work. Things were much happier when v3 came out :-) I'm looking forward to V6 to see what they've done to the frame memory. RE

Yes, I work in the US. Lambeau Field, Home of the Green Bay Packers, to be exact. We have had the DVS-9000 since 2003.
Thanks. Apparently I need a software upgrade then. It would appear that I am using the "Simple Software" version 2.20. I will have to talk to the higher ups and see how much the upgrade will cost. Todd
WOW! That software is, like, 4 years old. I cannot even begin to describe how many more things you can do when you upgrade to the current software. This may have changed, but I do not think Sony charges for software. Where do you work? Is it in the US? RE

Go to: Then go into the Operator Manuals, then MVS8000. You will see a file called MVS/DVS Frame Memory Import/Export.pdf or something like that. That file should tell you everything you want to know. One thing to keep in mind, currently there is a limit of 99 keyframes on a timeline. Since the Frame Memory animation uses a timeline, you can see there's a practical limit of 3:09 for a single animation. I've been told that in V6 of the software that there is no longer a keyframe limit for Frame Memory. I wasn't told when V6 is coming out, but he said before the end of the year. RE
