I'm finding I can't make the edges of my masks soft. It doesn't matter whether I'm using a wipe or pattern. The box mask works fine. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong. I'm working off v12.2.2, but I noticed this in v11 as well. Anyone have any thoughts?

I think I've found the answer! With a bit of searching, I managed to replicate the fault ... errr, I mean feature. (All these steps should be done using the Menu, not the main panel.) * In the "Keyer | Masks" menu, select "Box" as the Mask Source. * In the Adjust panel, select "Size/Position". * You will see a button labelled "Softness". Turn it ON. * Change the Mask Source to Complex Wipe 1. * The Softness knob will work for the Complex Wipe mask. * In the "Keyer | Masks" menu, select "Box" as the Mask Source. * In the Adjust panel, select "Size/Position". * You will see a button labelled "Softness". Turn it OFF. * Change the Mask Source to Complex Wipe 1. * The Softness knob will no longer work for the Complex Wipe mask. It seems that when the Softness button is visible (but off), adjusting the softness will automatically turn it on. When the Softness button is not visible (but off), it stays off - even when the datapad shows you increasing the level of softness. The Softness button is only visible when the "Box" is selected as the Mask Source, and only when "Size/Position" is the active adjustment. You can learn lots from this forum!

I've tried it every where. I thought maybe it had moved to another place, but my my softness knob isn't doing anything.

I also had this same problem on the last version of 12 that I used in the field.

I've got v12.2.2 and Masks are working OK. * Keyer Masks can be made soft from Box, Complex-Wipe or Keyer-Wipe source. With Utility as the Mask source, soft operates like a Gain control. * Masks do not operate with the Preset Pattern key-type. * Softness is a "Point of Use" function, so when using the Complex-Wipe or Keyer-Wipe, you don't use the Softness knob from the Wipes menu, you use the "north" (Top/Soft) knob in the Masks subpanel (with "Sep Edges" off), or use the control from the Masks menu. Have you tried this on every keyer on every M/E? This might track-down whether it's an M/E (hardware) fault or not. If it works somewhere, try copying that keyer to one that doesn't seem to work.
