Kalypso paths/interpolator, pausing between keyframes?

Hi all. I have a three keyframe effect. I do not have a pause inserted. I want two channels to move in one direction, then slinear to another position smoothly. When I hit the second keyframe, it pauses a beat, and then continues on.

To help you visualize the effect, I have a camera shot and a still with text from a CG keyed over. The camera will end up partially shrunk down, while the CG still and text fly over it large as the camera shrinks. This takes us from keyframe one to keyframe two. Two to three is moving back into the CG still with text keyed over at it's normal 4:3 dimension, while the camera even more shunk down to fit into a box cut out on the CG.

I have Slin saved everywhere on both channels for the path and the interpelator.

What am I missing?

I so used to the old KScope (boy do I miss that DVE) that this should be working.

Thanks in advance.

There is also a "jog" soft-knob in the menu which can allow manual travel or (by touching the "jog" datapad) entering a specific value using the on-screen keypad.

To get in-between keyframes, you can either use the GO TO TIME button & enter a timecode value (either an absolute value or a trim value) or you can run the effect & press RUN again to stop it wherever you want.

Bob: Thank you for the suggestion. While it isn't perfect, I did get the effect to work to the point where I am satisfied, per your instructions. Quick question...I had forgotton about inserting the keyframe inside the keyframe technique. The only way I remembered how to do it was to enable the T bar on the transform engine (DVE) and manually run the effect to the point where I wanted to insert the keyframe. Exactly how else do I advance to a midpoint inside a keyframe if not using the T bar? Thanks again.

An S-Linear move, by its very nature, induces a speed-up at the start of the keyframe and a slowdown at the end of the keyframe. Depending on the move, this looks like a pause. One thing you might try is this: Rebuild your move as a Curve Path, but only build the starting and ending keyframes. Once you have these two positions, either walk the move to the mid-point or enter the mid-point time code; you will be in-between KF's 1 & 2. Move the channels to where you want them and insert on the path. This will create the middle keyframe which will hit where & when you want it to. If motion is still an issue, go to KF 2 and adjust the Tension from a value of 0 towards the positive side...this will cause it to start looking like an S-Linear move. Tweak the tension a little & modify KF 2 (you may have to repeat the tweaks & re-modify) - you should eventually end up with the motion path that you want without the pause.
