Hi there,

I was just told I would be using a DD X10 on a host broadcast project in Asia. Has any one used this switcher? Is it similar to the DD35 - just smaller? Thanks!

John, Thanks for all the info. Sounds very cool! The pictures on Element Labs website are nice, but being there would be impressive. I can't wait to see some of these installations myself. And thanks for the info on the setup. It's always interesting. Hope we meet up in the near future. -JH

Zach, I'm curioius about the opening and/or closing ceremonies, were you able to watch any of them? Reason I ask is that I'm taking a job with the company who makes the cool LED display system that was used in the main stadium for either or both events. They are Element Labs. Thanks for any info.

Thanks for all the help John and it was great to meet you. To others reading this thread - it was a DDXten not a DD "10" as was told to me. I really enjoyed working at the Asian Games, it was a great crew and a great event. Qatar was a real experience, a completely different culture, that is for sure. It was great to pick your brain John and also gossip about switchers. The DDXten is a great switcher!

I am trying to get more information. All I have been told is the switcher is a DDx10 and the transition device is called "int." I am assuming that means internal and that they intend for me to use the internal RAM recorder. The event is track cycling at the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar for the Host Broadcaster.

Zach, I'm guessing you are talking about the DD10, but just to be clear, the XtenDD is- of course- the big dog of the DD line. If it is a DD10, its a single ME switcher. Menu structure is definitely of the DD family, but remember that the DD10 (as well as the DD20 and -30) are not smaller versions of the DD35, they are early versions. Which means you won't have a couple things. Notably, no macros. Also, no internal RAM recorder, DVE or still store. There are montage processors and a video store which can grab video (I think the DD10 has them, maybe they don't show up until the DD20). That's just a start, if you need more, post again. Its hard for me to picture a DD10 on a remote unless its a VERY small show. Maybe doublecheck to see if they meant the Xten? Sean Kelly
