Vertical Plasma Solution

Looking for any possible solutions to this dilemma: we have a vertical plasma monitor that needs any input rotated so that it is truly vertical. Currently, I use a channel of DME and and tie-up an ME on the switcher to do this. Are there any "black box" solutions that you guys are aware of that would just let me sent a straight ME feed to the monitor (minus the DME channel)?

Thanks!
Matt

Wonder if the bureau cams would cooperate :) The one bad thing about gfx building them sideways is that when you look at all the thumbnails in a SS, you end up tilting your head to try and squint to read what the gfx says

Thanks, guys! I think I can at least go in well armed and give them a few more options now. Running with Bob and Bill's suggestions, we might be able to have our artist make some of the vertical plasma graphics pre-rotated, too. I have already frame-mem'd a few generics, so we can release the DME in a pinch. I've been lobbying for additional DME channels, but am in a holding pattern as we're doing an upgrade to HD, and we aren't sure how much of our current gear is staying and what might be sent to another station. I appreciate the help. If I should find out any other solutions, I'll gladly post them here! MS

I wonder if the Miranda Kaleido Quad HD would do the trick. Although it will display up to four frames of video, I think that you can fill the screen with one channel and turn it anyway you want.

We were looking for a PC card or something a while back, found nothing. We were looking for something SDI, we already had two cheap For A analog dve's.. Best bet is to do what Bob mentioned, this includes gfx building things rotated as well.. If you want to put a live guest in there then you obviously need a dve. Bill

While it's certainly a low-tech approach, when we have a VT or graphic that we know is going into a vertical plasma, we record (or re-record) that source (via a DVE) as rotated. That way, we can play it back directly and it comes up pre-rotated & we do not tie up a DVE channel on-air. For live sources, we still need a DVE. If the source is SD, you can get good deals on old A-53D or DPM-700's - we used to dedicate one of these for one of our vertical monitors on Hollywood Sqaures & it worked great without tying up switcher resources.
