I am new to this forum, and I'm relatively new to the SONY 8000 switcher. I am a Grass person who needs to become proficient on this switcher. So, I will probably ask many questions here. My first question is that I am trying to build a macro which will call up a still in the frame memory. I finally figured out how to build a macro, but I can't seem to get this function to work. I'd appreciate some help on this. Thanks

Like what Bob suggested, what I've done is created a few snapshots that call-up my FMs for the various shows that I do. I've reassigned our User regions so that FM 1 & 2 are User 1, and FM 3 & 4 are User 2 and so on. This way, I can call-up certain stills and animations without affecting other FMs. I have included a FM snapshot in a Master Snapshot that I'll recall when I sit down at the switcher. Taking it a step further, I could set-up a macro to recall those FM snapshots, too. Once I realized what the macros couldn't do, life got a little easier for me. Like Bob mentioned, macros don't do menu-based functions, nor do they control anything in the flexipad (yet). Hope that helps... Matt

I understand the question a little bit different..? You have a still as a FM-file which you would like to recall? If so, this is really easy. Just make an effect that gets your image! From the factory USER4 is the region where FM1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 are assigned. So just make an effect in USER4-region when your file is recalled. Once you stored your effect you can recall the image via effect om the 10-keypanel, via a macro which recalls the effect, via shotbox that recalls the effect, or via a macro which recalls the shotbox which recalls the effect. Your choice. Good luck! Best Martin

It sounds like you're trying to use macros to call up menu-oriented functions...such as recalling a Frame Memory. The current version of software does not let macros access menu functions...only panel functions. I workaround for this would be to use a snapshot to call up your Frame Mems. Then you can program a macro to access this snapshot. Or you could create a timeline that calls up different Frame Mems on each keyframe. You could then use a macro to call up that effect - I would think (although I haven;t tried it) that you could also use macro functions to not only call up the effect, but then to press the GO TO KF button and then enter a keyframe number. If this would work then you could have just one timeline to call up all different Frame Mems, and access each specific Frame Mem via a different macro.
