Hello everyone. Just got a new Kayak and having a bit of a bottleneck trying to create a simple animated replay effect. My biggest issue is with how to do a "source hold" (Kalypso) or "crosspoint hold" (GVG250) transition on P/P while my replay animation plays keyed on top. There is no reference to in in the manual and can't seem to find it in the switcher menus. I suspect the "Define Memo" menu within the timline menu has something to do with it, but just can't seem to figure it out. Seemed pretty straightforward in Kalypso-land, but not so much with the Kayak. Thanks for the help!

Yes, the define memo is what you want. Simply left click on a level to turn it on, and right click to turn it off, I think... it's been awhile. If you want the keyframe to remember the transition settings then keep transition on. Turn off PGM and PST. You can also have it ignore specific keyers and other parameters (aka "partial keyframe")

You are right. You can programm the Kayak like on a XtenDD/DD35. I would advise you to have a PC with the Sidepanel programm in the network at you side, this makes the editing of timelines easier. If you know the XtenDD/DD35 you will see, it is the same menu. For the "source hold" use the "Define Memo". Best regards Jochen

First off, I don't know the Kayak, but I hear it's similar to the DD series. If that's true, then yes, define memo is one way to go about it. With define memo, select what you want to control, de-select whatever you don't (crosspoints, most likely). I think it's easier to insert macros into timelines (at least this is what I used to do on the DD series). Just have a macro or native command/event program your undercut and control the state of the keyer, as opposed to taking control of M/E parameters you don't want to disturb. Just my two cents. Don't know Kayak, other than what I've heard...
