We have certain stills and animations that we use everyday. We load them with a show set up macro or emem. The problem is that we can't seem to get those outputs to release them. We can't load anything else into those outputs unless we have a emem or macro already programmed to do it. The unload channel button won't release them either.

Yes there is new software coming out for the Still Store. I have been testing it and I must say it is a HUGE improvement over the current software. It is a total re-do of the current system. You can now access multiple directories from multiple places or "mounting points". This means that you can keep stills on your laptop and the switcher will load them into cache over the network. You can also grab stills into cache without the need to save them right away - you can do that later. A "mounting point" can also be a USB stick, SD card etc. on your laptop, a truck computer, etc. Since it's a total re-do I HIGHLY recommend reading the release notes we're making a lot of effort to make these notes make sense. The software is not released yet, but it's looking very good right now.

There was suppose to be a soon to be released new kalypso software that had a re-vamped SS operations. Heard that in January, they showed or talked about it at NAB. Don't think it has made it out yet.

Hi Lewis... Which version of software are you using on your Kalypso? So, you can't manually load anything into those channels either? What about loading something into the "preview" buffer of a still store channel, and they trying to "take" it? Is the still-store telling you that it is "busy" when you are trying to load? Concerning the "unload outputs" button, I was told a while back that it doesn't work properly. While I've seen it work on occasion, it seems to cause problems later. I'll start by suggesting that you reset the still-store and switcher frame cards simultaneously. The Kalypso SS caches to the switcher frame, so sometimes it is good to give them both a fresh start, and reload your stills when they are done rebooting. We did this at my old station about once a week, or after we did some file maintenance where we deleted a bunch of stills, and just wanted to make sure that both cards were cooperating with each other. When we bought our Kalypso, the trainer told us that the still-store has some issues (obviously), and at the time was rumored to possibly become more like the Kayak (Philips DD) still-store in future versions of software. It seems that they aren't doing much in the way of software development on the Kalypso now days, as Grass will tell you that "the Kayak is the future". Still, there has to be a solution to your difficulties! Hope that helps. Keep us posted! Matt
