I'm having a fine tuning issue that I thought I would see if you guys had any ideas.

I'm using an MVS-8000A. ver. 5.21

I've got an effect that uses a Frame Memory animation (USER 4 Effect #5) that runs across the screen while my M/E3 (Effect #5) wipes underneath. This all works great. The problem I'm facing is that when I run it as a macro there is a slight delay before it runs (it performs the animation and wipe correctly, BTW). The delay is probably no more the 7-10 frames before the whole thing starts. When I run the effect normally (Not using macro) it seems more instantaneous.

I imagine that this slight delay is caused by the recall of the effect built into the macro, but I wanted to get some more opinions.

I put the macro on the NAM button on M/E 3 as a PRE-macro.

Here's how the macro looks in Offline Edit:

MACRO
NO CONTENTS SYMBOL DATA
1 Event 1 TimeLineRecall ME3 5

2 Event2 TimeLineRecall USER4 5

3 Event3 TimeLineRun Current

This isn't a major problem, but it's just a minor headache when I hit the macro button and there's that delay every time.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

MSanta, Thanks for the tip and the confirmation that it's not just me. I usually use this wipe a few times in a row like for a tease or a bump. The workaround that I've gone with is hitting the macro for the first time it runs and then hitting the effect run button for the successive wipes. Rick, Yeah, we're ready for an update. I've got an e-mail out to our Sony reps so we can get the latest version. Thanks guys, Chris Bade Director/TD WTVF Nashville

I think the current version is 6.1x and 7.1 is due out at the end of this month. RE

Hey chris, Not that this helps, but I know what you mean about the macros being a tad bit slow.. I run transition wipes off our fastfoward from macros and yea there is a slight delay which kept getting on my nerve.. I dont know what caused it, if it was the cuing of the fastfoward that did it or whatever... I chose to use a timeline instead--which works instantaneous when you hit the run button.. If you can alter your shows to use timelines, they work much faster in my opinion..
