Electret/Dynamic headset problem

I've been looking around online for a new headset, and I've run into a problem.

Currently I use a Telex PH-88 headset, which has this nice feature of squeezing your head really uncomfortably after hours of wear -- so I'm looking for something more lightweight, preferably some kind of single-ear deal.

I've found two models that I like, Telex PH-150 and Telex PH-120, but both of them are only available with electret microphones. The intercom panels at my station can only use dynamic mics though. (I think they're Clearcom ICS-92.)

So my question is this: is there a way to adapt a headset with an electret microphone for use with a panel that expects a dynamic microphone? And failing that, does anyone know of any other really lightweight headsets that won't make you feel like you've had your head in a pair of vice grips at the end of the day?

Try . I have a Starset and it's the best money I ever spent. Make sure you get adapters for each application, I have 3 and never had a problem. The mic is adequate for TD use, but if you direct you'll need something better. I can't vouch for the Supra series, never had one. Don't get the push-to-talk switch, the head unit thinks you unplugged the mic and it switches to the panel mic. Another place that I saw at NAB is . I've never used their products but I bookmarked them just in case.

Audio Specialties in Burbank, CA sells no-name lightweight headsets...the last pair I bought was about four years ago and they cost around $120. They're not all that rugged, but I can wear them for hours (and I have!). I'm sure there are places on the east coast that could set you up as well...the ones to ask are audio geeks (or engineers who specialize in audio).

I had this same problem, I actually bought a PH150. Found out it doesn't even work with Telex's flagship intercom KP-32. I called Telex tech support, they said it was made for a beltpack. They said for the headset you need phantom power to power the mic. I also had volume issues with the earpiece. I agree I hate their standard headset. The earpiece is not very comfortable. I have been trying to find a relative that sews to make me a little sock to go over the earpiece (like they have on the larger announcer headsets. Bill
