You can copy what you have on M/E 2 into M/E1 by holding down the COPY button at the bottom of the GUI and pressing the M/E 2 button at the bottom left of the GUI. Then hold down the PASTE button and press the M/E 1 button and that will duplicate the state of M/E 2 onto M/E 1. By re-entering M/E 1 as a background into M/E 2 you can then layer the four keyers of M/E 2 over the 4 or 8 boxes from M/E 1. You can save your switcher effects as a DMEM (similar to EMEM) or a GMEM (similar to Master EMEM). A DMEM saves a single M/E of information and a GMEM can save a single M/E, multiple M/Es or the whole switcher. To save a DMEM, type a number on the numeric keypad, press either M/E 1 or M/E 2 on the numeric keypad and then press SAVE. A GMEM is saved the same way except you can select multiple sections to be saved and you need to press GMEM SAVE. All this information is in the Kahuna User Manual. I suggest you register for the Kahuna Club on the Snell & Wilcox website. After you receive your password you will be able to download the manuals. I can also give you alternate instructions for downloading the manuals if you would like. Cheers, -= Ken =-

Hi Dina, Sorry, I'm not really sure what you are asking. If you mean that you just want to take a number of video sources and shrink them down using the 3D DVE so you see multiple tiles (or boxes), then go to the "DVE Models" menu and turn on "4 Tile Mode". Then go into the 4 Tile menu and twist and move the joystick which will shrink and position Tile #1. Then select the other tiles one at a time to shrink and position them too. Depending on the software version you have, you may be able to gang control of the Tiles to size them all at the same time, then un-gang them to position them individually. The 3D DVE will let you control 4 Tiles. If you have a second 3D DVE board in your Kahuna then you can control up to 8 Tiles. This is in addition to the Resize Engines (2D DVEs). Each keyer has its own Resize Engine which can be used for sizing and positioning additional Tiles. Since they are part of the keyers, you just select your source on a keyer (ie. Key 1) and press the "Resize Engine" button for that keyer in the "Key Control" area on the right side of the M/E. Use the joystick or Track Ball to size and position the Tile. Depending on the size of the Kahuna you are using, you can have 4, 8, 12 or 16 Resize Engines. That means you could have a maximum of 24 Tiles or Boxes on the screen at the same time plus the sources could be a mixture of SD and HD formats. Whether 24 Tiles simultaneously on screen will be a good looking effect is another issue. :-) Since you are using a 2 M/E system, you can have a maximum of 12 or 16 Tiles on the screen, depending on whether you have one or two 3D DVE boards in the mainframe. Cheers, -= Ken =-

If you are thinking of the Preset DVE Transitions, then those are hard-coded at the factory. You cannot add your own effects to that menu. The DVE effects I use most frequently I save as DVEMEMs and then make macros to recall them and assign them to the User Function buttons on the control panel. That way I can also make my own bitmap labels to quickly see which DVE effect to recall. I hope this helps. Cheers, -= Ken =-
