Hi there,
I have wired and setup our Kalypso to trigger one single solitary sound cut on the digicart. I have done the following: Device name- Digicart, Assinged port- Port 6,J14 38.4k,none. I am able to control it manually but can't figure out how to get further from there...what i want is to perform a wipe and it triggers the Digicart to play and stop...any ideas or suggestion?

Thanks for the info on setting the GPI Duration. I had been fighting with this problem. Now all is well. Thanks again.

Yea, if it's serial it'll still be in the PBus/GPI control menu...it's just that the level will be assigned to the DEVICE instead of PBus. The PBus control menu will let you set up device recalls as either part of the E- Mem header info (KF 1) or on a KF-by-KF basis. You'll still want a recall on KF 1 & a PLAY command on KF 2 on that device level timeline. By the way, if you can control the device manually via the menu (test fire), then you could build a macro that (a) hits the auto trans to start the wipe, (b) waits x amount of time, and (c) does the device test fire. Of course the macro could be expanded to recall the sound effect & call up the wipe/set the auto trans rate & select WIPE, but the 3 steps above should get you started.

If he is, then here is a post I found from a bit :
Make certain the DigiCart is set for "Grass Valley Protocol" in the setup menu. Here is our ENG setup Device Name - DigiCart, Assigned port - Port 6, J14 38.4k,none.
Note, this only works with the DigiCart /E

It sound like he's using serial control as opposed to GPIs?
Bob, does the GPI out also have to get +5v? Also, in ENG SETUP, PORTS/DEVICES you have to set GPI Duration to 10 or more fields. That is more for the DigiCart and not the switcher. If it is less then 10, it the digiCart may not trigger every time.
Good call on the duration. I have used 2 fields without a problem, but it can't hurt to add more time. The GPI OUT normally does not require voltage. It's the GPI IN that needs it, as the switcher uses optoisolators to trigger its GPI, so +5V is necessary to make that happen.

E-Mem/Timeline control is done in the GPI/PBus menu. First check what level you've assigned control of the GPI menu to - you'll see this in the Suite Prefs / E-Mem Prefs / GPI menu. Now make sure that this level is activated on the Master E-Mem panel. Normally you'd insert a dummy keyframe as the 1st keyframe so that nothing happens, but it'll make the level active. Turn on the GPI trigger in the GPI/PBus menu, and insert a 2nd keyframe. Now it'll just be a matter of getting the keyframe timing right to make the trigger happen with your wipe at the spot that you want it to be, as the GPI will fire on the 2nd keyframe.
