Does Sony sell a spare parts kit for the 8K family like you can get for the Kalypso? We don't have any spares and we had an interesting failure today. I lost keyers 1 and 3 on the DSK for several innings. Of course, the Fast Forward is usually keyed on DSK #3....

Curt, don't think it was heat. That truck is a portable meat locker and the racks are nicely cooled. I do agree that snaky buttons are NOT fun. I also love how some directors react when something goes wrong. Like I am trying to screw up, sheesh. Now can anyone please explain again why I started doing this job????

Mike, Could it be a heat issue since it is intermittent? Something heated up, then cooled down with outside air temp...or an A/C vent was blocked etc..? We have also had buttons go bad, or intermittent on the 8000 panel we have. I wasn't there, but the "CUT" button on PGM/PST I think went...That must have been fun. Also had a crosspoint row button become intermittent. Some of the LCD buttons are also showing signs of corner cracking. Cool thing is , units are swappable, so atleast you can make a swap and work around a bad button. Curt

Mike ... I checked with our engineers, and we have a "recommended spare kit". I failed to note the model number, however (I can look next week, if you'd like). Basically, it appears that you get some extra cards for the switcher frame, and in another kit some extra cards for the SCU. Hope that helps, if even just a little... Matt

Not a panel issue. I swapped ME1 and PGM/PST, forget the menu/page, and the problem was still there. Of course it was baseball, no halftime or intermission to do a full power down and reboot. What is weird is that maybe three innings later the problem went away and I had everything. Tonight we had no issues. The frame and panel had been on for maybe 32 hours straight, we have had this unit on for at least four consecutive days, so that shouldn't be the problem.

Mike ... was this a board problem internal to the switcher, or was it a problem with the module on the panel? We have a second control panel, and it's come in quite handy for module swaps as some of our guys are a bit heavy handed with the buttons. Matt
