Kalypso Classic Laptop Connectivity Issue

Hi All,

Had a show on a Kalypso Classic this weekend...

I tried to connect my laptop (Mac running Windows in Boot Camp) to the LAN cable that TD's use to connect to the Kalypso LAN, but I couldn't get connectivity to the Kalypso hub, frame, still store...nothing. I *did* do the normal stuff on the Kalypso Menu app side of things, like entering the frame and still store IPs.

The MU staff even substituted another known good LAN cable, and still, no luck.

Is there something that has to be done on the Windows side of things to connect to the Kalypso LAN? I just had the laptop set to DHCP. Do values for a static IP for the laptop need to be entered, or something?

Thanks

Big O
Hi Steve. I saw your answer to MM. Are you saying you connected to a Mac running Bootcamp or some other virtual Windows set-up? I have been completely unsuccessful. It works fine with my PC laptop but not my MacBook Pro running Fusion v.2. Charles Ciup
If you're running Bootcamp, your Mac becomes a run of the mill Windows machine. Configure it the same way you configure a PC.

Yes - after you give your computer a 192.168.0.xxx IP address, make sure that the Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0

Ah ha. Thanks, Steve. Do I have to enter anything else into the IP address / gateway values / blah blah in Windows? Sorry, I'm a little networking challenged. Thanks!
I just had the laptop set to DHCP. Do values for a static IP for the laptop need to be entered, or something?
Yep, this is it. Generally there is no DHCP server anywhere on a Kalypso network. You will need to assign your computer a static IP address. Just pick something in the 192.168.0. subnet (assuming the Kalyspo has kept the factory-standard IP configurations); generally anything above 30 for the last octet is safe. I usually use 192.168.0.81, and have always had conflict-free connections. If you have any doubt, just ask your EIC what address you should use. Happy switching, -Steve
