HI all,

are there any good training resources online or in print that anyone knows about for programming the Kayak DD35?
I am am working as a vision switcher on a national news bulletin in NZ and the only real training options are too expensive. I'm all good with the mixing but know next to nothing about programming macros and emems etc.
I do have a dvd from Grass valley which is very helpful and I'm going to give some programming a go soon but if anyone has any tips I'd love to hear from you.

Also (and this will sound like I am hopeless) but I need to back up the setup to sidepanel. I have instructions on how to reload a setup from sidepanel and have done this before but I have no instructions on how to save them. I'm sure I can work it out but need to be careful as there is no one else here who can fix any mess I might make..

Cheers in advance

Dale

HI Beth: The Transforms engines do not float on the Kayak. As with some of the truck companies out there, the switcher was purchased like some of their other trucks with minimal equipment, therefore there is no transform on certain keyers. I know for instance of a particular truck company where there is no transform engine for Key 3 & 4. So that is most likely what you are experiencing. As for the timeline legos ... you can look change the look of the timeline with the "View" menu in the upper part of the screen. There is a list there for graphic and/or text view. Have fun! Best regards, Rick.

Hey Bob, I have to learn the kayak too. I don't understand why when I Dpop on the DPM of the ME bank I don't have control of the Transform engines. When I use the DPM on the splash panel next to the switcher status monitor then I do have control. I assigned the trnsform engine to a keyer in an me however I didn't have control over the engine. However when I pressed the other DPM button then I could use the joystick. What's the difference? Do the engines float? Is there only one control panel? The DD 35 hasn't been updated in years. I thought they were going to make it possible to call up a LOOP on the lance AND fix the hideous timeline display. It still looks like a bunch of LEGO's. The last post for notes is from 2005.
