How do you guys handle building the backup clock/score bug when the clock cameras are off-angle? I usually build mine on the DVEous, but when you have to do a lot of rotation to correct for camera angles then the crops are no longer square. The last game I did I corrected the angle with transform engines on M/E-1 then fed that into the DVEous where I sized, positioned and cropped, but M/E-1 was also where I had my official review boxes, coach's challenge boxes, etc. built, so I could have gotten hosed if I needed one of them AND the backup bug at the same time. Also a lot of the smaller college shows use 3k/4k's where transform engines are not an option. Wondering what you all do. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
--Mike

I find it best to attack the problem before it hits the switcher. I'll go out and fix the tripod myself, or take a hand held with a tripod head that can be tilted close enough to counter the angle.

I agree with what has been mentioned, mask in the switcher also helps if camera gets bumped and you need to re-adjust, messing with crops on a A-5X, while doing a show is tough. Proc amp is also hlepful to make it more readable

If possible, I'll do a luma key of the clock. That way you don't have to worry about the "box" around it, just the digits. Use the ME proc amp to crank the gain, crush the blacks, and desaturate. Or matte fill white and add a glow for good solid lines.

Mike ... I've used the same set-up that you've described. Often times, if I'm in a truck that has a 3k/4k and a DVEous, there is also another, lesser used DVE on-board too (like an old A-53, perhaps). I would leave the DVEous for the higher-end stuff that I needed to do (challenge boxes, bump treatments), and would set-up the game and play clocks in the A-53 ... this way, I can use the switcher's masking ability to mask anything that I've tried to correct that I can't properly crop in the DVE. I hope that helps... Matt
