this is a kayak 2dd switcher, how do you record a still or animation from chryon to ram so when you use it from the ram it will key without adjusting the clip level.when keyed from chryon direct it is fine when keyed from ram you have to adjust the clip to get a proper key.i see on the ram in still mode, video key,key and v+k i tried recording in and playback different modes but no avail.when the kayak trainer, helga, was showing us one ram had a key and the other a fill source then he coupled the rams i think by splitting the key i may be wrong but how do you record the two versions in the rams.
thanks

to record you need to assign you CG fill and key to STE 1 & 2. You will find that on your keyer row on your ME's. So CG 1 fill assign to STE 1 CG 1 Matte assign to STE 2. On your display for to ram recorder and make sure you have RAM 1&2 linked as V&K. If you are recording a still push the still button, if you are recording a clip make sure you are in clip mode. Hit the EE button and you should see the fill and matte on rams 1&2. If you are recording a still you just hit record. For clips there is a little more to it. You need to set a duration for the clip. When you play it back you will need to switch from clip mode to vtr mode (i think). I usually do my clips through the side panel but these are the settings that you need to change, I just can't tell you how they are labeled on the switcher panel display. To record press record new and it should just do it. Hope this helps. Courtney

thanks courtney but you have to give me a step by step instruction as how to record a key super from the chryon and then what settings to use to recall it from the ram.i coupled it then recorded it to the ram using various modes i.e vid,v+k but it still didnt work.i vaguely remembered the trainer using split key i.e copying or splitting the key signal but i can't remember for what use.

select the ram you want (it should turn green) then select modify. That will allow you to couple your rams with each other with out using side panel.

Doing this from memory, please bear with me. INPUT MENU, where you see the key set as white RIGHT CLICK in the key section. A menu of sources should come up. Another way around is to double punch whatever keyer you have the ram recorder keyed on. You should also be able to right click on the key source and change it.

Hi, is your Kayak in DD for the Keyer or no? (Install - E-Box - Misc)? In DD mode you will find the couple Key list in the Config - E-Box - Input menu. In not DD mode you will have a Key menu in install. Jochen

Go to Install>Input and make sure Ram 1 is coupled with Ram 2. Make sure you are in Lum Lin mode on your keyers (4 buttons should light up for a normal linier key).
