Hello all,

Has anybody try to connect a digicart/E with an 8000G via P-Bus?
We are tying this connection directly without a lance controller.

Thanks,

Mike -- you are correct; this question has come up before and I have answered the same. Good memory :-) I tried a search, but couldn't find the old thread.

I do know that there is a menu for setting which port the unit listens to--ie address 1 or address 2. Pretty sure that you have to set it to address 2 for the remote port as address 1 is for the digicat controller. Then you have to also set the protocol that you want to use in the menu. I have never used it with Pbus only with the 360 ES-Bus so I can not confirm that the Pbus will work or if it can even be set. I am just going from memory how I set it up to work with other switchers and the ES protocol.

Few years back, after seeing a deko demo was told that they support emem/p-bus control. Manual has a blurp about it but that is it. 360 systems doesn't seem to have a manual on their website, nice brochure though.

Steve, haven't you posted this before? This now sounds familiar. Perhaps in response to a question like this?

Although the DigiCart/E claims to support PBuss, I haven't been able to get it to work from several switchers, including a Kalypso. I was never able to troubleshoot the problem thoroughly, but with a working PBuss cable pulled from a Lance controller and plugged into the Digicart/E, it didn't work.

Bill, the Digicart/E series claims to support PBus. From 360 Systems' web site:
Serial and GPI Control A variety of serial and parallel ports adapt DigiCart/E to most facilities: * An RS-422 serial port operates with standard ES-Bus protocols; it is compatible with most automation systems, with DigiCart II, and with our new RC-Series remote controls. It also supports Peripheral Bus "E-Mem" commands, giving DigiCart/E direct control by popular video switchers. * Five optically isolated GPI inputs provide control of play, stop, record, pause, and loop. These conform to the DigiCart II connector for easy upgrades.
When we got our 8000 production wanted to trigger a Digicart. We never saw any documentation on either the 8000 or the then new E series Digicart. Management DID listen to our previous complaining and when they bought the HD gear they bought the DNF interface. What is interesting is that we never used the dang thing. We did silent replays, using the DME, until we got a DDR.

Does digicart support P-bus? In the past you needed a special P-bus interface that DNF makes that takes serial control from digicart and P-bus from a switcher and makes them talk.
