I've got the KeySpan USB-Serial adapter, and installed the latest drivers on my Macbook, but it won't communicate with the TDC-100. Is there something else I need to do to get it to work?

Thanks

I've heard second hand that there might be something in the newest Mac OS which causes the Cueman/Keyspan combination to not work properly when the truck is using ethernet serial port adapters to provide the link to the TDC frame, instead of just a hard-wired cable. I think NEP does this on some of their trucks. It seems that the ethernet link works ok with PCs or older Mac operating systems, but not with the newest one. If you're having trouble with the interface, you might check with the truck guys to make sure that there's nothing between the Keyspan adapter and the TDC-100 besides a piece of wire. If I can get any more info regarding this, I'll pass it along. best regards, Bill

All-FYI, NEP doesn't use any Keyspan or other device in line between the connector at the TD position and the TDC100. Often this is a RJ45 connector and will require a DB9 to RJ45 adapter cable, but it is just a straight piece of wire between the two points. -Jeff (and no, not that Jeff.....)

That's interesting because I bought my new MAC PRO with snow leopard and am also experiencing difficulties with the keyspan adaptor but not on ALL trucks. Turner truck TS-1 worked like a charm. SS20 I can't seem to make my laptop (both mac and pc side) talk. I've tried de-nulling but haven't had success. The cable is good because it works on the truck laptop. If you find an answer, let me know.

The cable works, as does the adapter on a pc laptop. It looks like it has to be a setting somewhere that I have wrong, I just don't know enough about macs to track it down. Thanks for the help... any other ideas?

Have you tried the cable with another computer or using a different cable plugged straight into the TDC-100?

It shows up in the drop down menu (actually, it shows up as 2 different things), but neither one pulls info from the Lance when I do a cue download.

I had an issue with the first USB-RS232 adaptor I got. It was a no-name adapter I got for $10. I tried it with the keyspan adapter that's recommended by Lance, and after installing the drivers (had to google around a bit for them), I had no problem with it. If the adaptor's not showing up in the dropdown box inside the Cueman software then it's not being recognized and probably an adaptor or driver issue. If it is, then it might be the actual cable that's giving you trouble. Good luck!

I'm running Mac OS 10.5.6, so I thought it would be plug and play.

I wish I could help. Few things in life work 1st time out of the box....... in this case my Key Span unit and the leopard operating system has never given me any problems. I hope that this info at least helps you on the steps of trouble shooting. Good luck
