Sometimes I have a problem routing things into the ramrecorder on kayaks (something as simple as Duet into ST1.) All i want to do is grab a still but I can't get the source to show up in the ramrecorder. Has anybody else encountered this? Solution? It must be something simple that I'm over looking.

I wish there was a laptop here. Or internet fast enough to download anything. Or a network hub/switch between the frame and the keyboard. Unfortunately there isn't any of those. I'm in the f****** djungle you know. I'm a celeb... See you soon I hope. Best wishes from the other ones here.

Martin, you can download the sidepanel software from GVG and install it to your laptop

Ok, Calle, that's good to know - I only wish I had a sidepanel out here so that I could test the DD2 if it works.

If you go the Kayak frame -> Sidepanel PC -> USB drive route the audio will still be there (in the Kayak HD's at least)

Be adviced that if you have embedded audio on your clips, it disappears when you transfer them to USB-stick. At least it does on the DD2 without sidepanel. Martin

I never back up my clips but my stills I transfer to and from my thumb drive all the time. That is a good thought though Mike.

Courtney, you should be able to copy those files, using Windows, to any USB device. I forget which directory the stills/clips are stored in, but a simple Windows copy would work. Save the files first to the sidepanel computer, then copy them. Too bad the system wasn't simpler.

Yes. In your ram recorder go to file transfer and select ram to USB or there is an option for the hard drive. You can then select which clips and stills you want. Be careful if you transfer to a thumb drive, some Kayaks will only except a 2 gig thumb drive, you may not have enough room if you have a lot you are trying to back up.

Is there anyway to "backup" what you have recorded in the ram recorder if the switcher dumps?

going through the switcher panel fails more often then not. I haven't had any issues using the side panel. Keep your hairs, you might need them later in life.

Go through the side panel, i have found that to be much more reliable.

I've always had trouble with the Kayak's RamRecorder, fortunately I don't use it too much. Try toggling in and out of E/E mode a few times, that usually does the trick for me.
