I have to td a show this weekend with a gvg 3000 and I have to build a transition with a FF. I have never used a grass 3000 so I don't know how to trigger it or how to put it in my timeline. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you gentlemen. I think between the two of you I can get through it. Wish me luck.

I think that your best bet would be to use PBus.  In the CONFIG menu, you'll be able to assign which level (Misc or one of the DPM's) you want to use to control the PBus - you'll be building E-MEMs & keyframes into this level.
You will probably be using either a LANCE or a DNF box to interface to the FF.  Build your cue points just as you normally would on the interface box.
Now use the E-MEM / PERIPH menu in the 3000 to allow you to attach LEARN commands...this is done when you LEARN an E-MEM on the 3K into the assigned level.  Next, you build keyframes into that E-MEM and (using the Periph menu) attach triggers to the PBus devices.  The 3K's Periph menu is fairly primative compared to modern-day switchers, but it will still let you pick the peripheral device (numbered 0-23) and the trigger number (0-15, although only 8 can be assigned to the menu - you'll probably only need #'s 0 [start], 1 [re-cue] and 4 [stop]).
You can send out multiple commands per KF (such as device 1 & device 2 cue-up and/or triggers), so you should be OK for fill/key ops.
It's been a while since I've been on a 3K, so I know I'm being pretty vague in terms of the exact menus, but this should point you in the right direction.
