Matte fill... But not...

So, it appears as though our 8000a is acting a little funny, one of our DSKs has decided to act as if the Matte fill option is on, but it is not. For example if a CG channel is put into this keyer it works fine, but is filled with black. If it is a super, it is actually keying the super out, but again, filling it with black, it is even feathering the edges off to match the incoming key signal, just not filling correctly. The Matte fill option is off, so that is not the problem, and if we put something else in the keyer, like a camera, when the keyer is turned on, program/preset go black, but, it is only happening on one of the DSKs. I have performed a "clear before load" while loading our most recent directory with no success. Any ideas???

Well, engineering reset the frame last night and everything seems to be functioning now. We still don't know why it began to malfunction in the first place. (I believe the problem began somewhere between the panel and the chair)

Unless you have some sort of hardware failure (which I think you could check by swapping M/E boards in the frame & see if the problem follows), try this: set up a key on another keyer & get it to look the way you want it to - then copy that key into the faulty DSK & see if there's still a problem.  My 1st thought is that the DSK may be doing a SPLIT key to black...if the keyer memory is OFF for that M/E, then manually selecting another source will hold onto the split.  You can try making sure that the SPLIT is off, but doing the key copy from a know good keyer should also tell you if it's hardware (in which cas eyou need to contact SONY), software (unlikely or others would be having the same issue), or operator (a mistake of a button press somewhere).

Bob,I like your suggestion about copying the key settings from one keyer to another, I will try that tomorrow. I thought SPLIT may have been a problem but, the keyer in question was on auto select but, just to be sure, I made it do a split key and selected the appropriate key and fill sources. It did the same thing, keyed okay, but filled with black. I am still thinking operator error, which is why I was surprised when the DSK in question didn't work after reloading the directory. Which I know wasn't the most current version as there were a few wipes that I had built that were blown away in the reload (that'll teach me not to save). I know the CGs and such are working correctly as when they are put on other keyers they work fine, so, its just this one keyer.

do you have the same table assigned to P/P as you do to your DSKs?

Allan,
I did not think it was possible to break the keyers away into another table.  Works in the menu, but I have not seen the panel actually show that change.  Could be a dfo though.
