Hello All,  I am coming up on my first Kayak Show and wanted to see if anyone had any tips?  I was crewed as a last resort I believe.  I usually TD on every other Grass Switcher, but not this one.

I am really hoping to make it go well, but definitely could use some guidance.  Thanks.

Are EMEMS on the kayak all like "Master Emems" would be on a kalypso?  You define what is controlled and recalling 00 on any recall (ME1, ME2, PP) would recall the same thing?  Similar to the 300 mode on a grass switcher.  In my usual setup I would build Master Emems to control replays and DDR effects along with splits and boxes, and 00-09 would be camera cut with bug in me3, and 10-19 cg1 bug, so on.  I just don't want to hose myself and build over effects.

I agree with Mongo.  There are too many differences between the Kayak and other Grass switchers to cover in the time you have.   Use an existing setup.  If you find someone else's replay move, make sure you modify the P-bus register recalls in the timeline.  It won't automatically recall the same pbus register as the switcher register.

The sidepanel is your friend.  Use it to modify all your timelines.

E-mem levels(called Define Memo on Kayak) are much more detailed.  You can control every aspect of the ME individually.  The "transition" section of define-memo remembers the keyer states-not the "Key 1-4" sections.

To recall emems like a Kalypso - make sure the "direct" or "Bank" button is lit.  Then you need to hold it down to select a new bank.

Store register - 'store' - 'emem num' - enter

There's a whole lot more, but not enough time to describe it all.

Good luck.

Have you had ANY training on it at all?  If not, you're in for a long day.  The easiest thing to do would be use a previous setup, and modify it.

Emems are called TiMemos, and can be accessed by right-clicking on the sidepanel menu.  If you can find a replay move, you can click Edit and adjust the Hold times to tweak the effect.  Click the Hold time, click it again to make sure you're on the right spot to edit (just trust me on that), click Modify, enter the time in frames, and OK.  Click End Edit.

Unfortunately, I don't know a quick way to describe how to program your emems.  Hope that helps.

Any Training...not much AT ALL.  I am walking into this cold.  I have used the sidepanel app to set up the engineering side of the kayak before, but I have not done a sports show.  To top it off it might be a rather busy BTN show.  Box Squeezes, etc.

If I was on a kalypso or zodiak even a 3k or 4k this would be another walk in the park.

Like I said though, I am open to any more thoughts or suggestions that are out there.

There are several setups saved on that truck.  If you load one of the most recent ones you should be able to get by.

You can copy emems in the TiMemo menu by selecting the emem you want to copy, click Copy, click the spot you want it placed, and click Copy To.

DVE (DPM) is easiest done through the touch panel.  DPM snapshots are saved on the emem subpanel, but with the DPM button pressed (lights will turn blue on that panel.)  DPM timelines are separate from emem timelines.  To save emems with a DPM, in the TiMemo Define menu, make sure DPM # is selected and save the emem.  To select/deselect levels in the Define menu, left click to select, right click to deselect.  To recall keyer state in your emem, select the transi button.

Take a thumb drive and save your setup to it.

That's about all I got.

Mongo Thanks Much! I greatly appreciate it.  I sent you a PM however I have no Idea where the inbox or messaging would be found on this forum.  My email is banks@jbjtd.com.  Feel free to drop me a line there if you got my message.  I will let you know how everything goes, and hopefully I can find effects that will allow me to build and hopefully I can configure the clean feeds, the clock over camera in the replay stuff, so on.

Again Thanks for the help and kind words!
