Punching X-factor in HD this autumn. The production company gives me a targa-squence for the recap-wipeeffect in SD. Just wanted to check if someone out there has a version in native HD? Upconverting sucks...

X-Factor hasn't been produced in the US yet so I don't think anyone's got an an HD wipe.

Who is directing BTW?

Hello Calle,

 

Monster is producing it and Øyvind J. is directing. They made it in HD last year as well, but they tried out the danish AutoPilot system so the vision mixer had other things to worry about than wipes and such. I think it worked OK, but personally I am glad they decided not to go down the AutoPilot road again, so I can work my own magic :-)

What switcher will you be using?  If it's a GV, then you can use the Format Converter that comes as part of the Kayak software...I have this installed on my computer & it makes bringing in stills & AVI/QT files into the Kalypso (and I would assume also the Kayenne) a breeze.  It's probably the best conversion program that I've seen, and it's free as part of the Kayak side panel software.

If you're on a SONY you may want to pre-upconvert your tiffs via a computer program like Hijack Pro before importing them as an animation or clip.

Thank you Bob,

 

Its an 8k, and the procedure is, unfortunately, not new for me. I was just wishing that we could get the material in native HD so the quality would be as high as possible all trough the line, and I thought that maybe anyone had done the show in HD before and had the wipe, in native HD, laying around.
