Anyone know what the "Pvw PRI" and "Sec PVW" buttons do?  They're located with the switched preview buttons, just to the left of the macro attach enable button.

Paul, do you only want to see the output of the "B" bus? If so, the simplest way might be to have an engineer patch the B output of your M/E to the preview monitor.

B output

Unfortunately it doesn't quite work that way. The B output of an ME is a clean feed output not the B bus. What you could do is bus-link with the B Bus as a master to an Aux bus and put that on your preview monitor. Make sure that you use the "Standard Table" which maps all sources 1 to 1. It is in the Source Ops menu. I guess including the Pvw PRI bus as a visible bus in that menu might help. Wishlist item someone?

Another way to do it would be to bus link the B bus to the Utility 2 bus and split the ME. Then you could press a background transition on the secondary side, only work on the primary and see LAP on Alt/Pvw of the ME. That is - use the Green Secondary button to set the secondary to Bkd transition then make sure from then on only the white Primary button - on the right end of the source module - is pressed. It seems open to being lost slightly easily to me, but it would work.

John,

I still want capability of using switched pvw, so patching the PVW monitor is a no-go. I figure I'll split PGM bus, bus link PGM B-bus to PGM Utility A, and source PGM C or D into Pvw PRI. That way, I select what I want to see on PGM B bus, and hit Pvw PRI. A bit of a hoop, but not too bad. Thanks again for your help.

What they do:

Pvw PRI - for Preview Primary Input -lets you select any input of the switcher to the Pvw PRI bus and then you can put it on your Switched Preview monitor. (The Pvw PRI bus can be mapped to your local Aux control panel if it isn't there already.)

Sec PVW - you press this if you have any MEs in DoubleTake mode and then when you select, say ME1 you see ME1 Secondary preview. Toggling the Sec PVW button swaps backwards and forwards between Primary partition LAP and Secondary partition LAP. It also works for the eDPM which can also have Primary and Secondary partitions.

Actually none of this is new, the Kalypso did the same thing, but of course Doubletake software was an option for Kalypso whereas it is standard in Kayenne.

Cheers, John

Thanks, John... If I understand you correctly, I need to first map Pvw PRI to the aux bus and then assign a source?  Or is there another way?  Specifically, Im looking to preview what's on the PGM B bus without seeing a DSK that's in all the time, and by not having to preset that DSK to come off.  Is there a way to do this, to assign PGM B to the Pvw PRI button?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul - I replied out of sequence above. PvwPRI is usually mapped to the Local Aux bus panel by default at the right hand end - and then you are running. However - see my post about ways of seeing what you asked for, John
